Axial expansion joints
They generally consist of a single bellows and allow to compensate the pipeline thermal expansions, in the axial direction and can partially compensate, also lateral and angular movements.
However, they do not resist pressure thrust caused by internal pressure.
They can be use in a line to compensate quite restrained expansions according to the diameter and pressure they must withstand, splitting the line into different sections, based on the stroke of the joint itself.
Moreover, they can also be manufactured with steel bellows or special alloys, according to their use, for example AISI 316Ti, AISI 310, HASTELLOY, INCONEL, AVESTA 904L, MONEL 400, INCOLOY, and with welding ends in special materials like CORTEN, A335 P11, A333 Gr.6 and others upon request.
